I woke up at 6 to enjoy the sunrise. The village was slow and sleepy. In a need of my morning kick, I headed to Roxana's Bakery; the heart of the village. It is open 24/7, impossible to miss, with everyone having a reason to come by. Our accommodation owner comes daily for a scoop of ice cream. The passing-by hikers get water and snacks, tourists buy their bus tickets. There is always life at Roxana's, and there is a strong sense of community and belonging.
This morning, I found Roxana engaged in conversation with a dustman. To their excitement, I sketched. Afterwards, I got a very Greek (and rather average) coffee with a warm Spanakopita (Greek spinach pie) and headed to begin my day at the beach. For me, this morning was as good as it gets.
